OnMe
How to define who you are can be a challenge… my aim isn’t self-glorification with this blurb. I am just compelled to share some small things about me.
Three descriptive words on me - passionate, intuitive, driven. I’m probably borderline OCD with an evident perfectionist attitude who is comprised of Type-A and B personality characteristics - impatient, highly competitive, aggressive + imaginative, creative and capable of self-analyzing or actuating. As you might have gathered, my passion is design. More specifically, my interests are the symmetry (balance), typeface and the genius use of color (or the lack thereof when appropriate). I have a strong background in graphic illustration and an eye for flow.
Although I am not entirely convinced it is necessary, I have no formal education in design or layout. Previously, I had attended the creative-rich Art Institute of Dallas for a semi-related field and hope to return one day. Most of my established skill-sets are self-taught. I could have saved myself close to a decade of searching for a niche, however, if I had paid more attention to the signs of my passion.
God’s first, but in close second I find my family and my dream(s) are at odds often. I guess one thing I’d like to impart to you - do not let your work, your art, your passion consume you and slight those, for a moment, who are supporting you as you develop; I’ve made that mistake more than once.
My mother and a father have made the greatest impact in my life, tirelessly working themselves into the ground, fighting hard to ensure I never grew up in a broken home, provided when there were no provisions and who ensured that I could recover from every significant, sometimes expensive, mistake I made along the way. I also appreciate the patience of my wife, who allows me to slave over my workstation for hours on end in whatever freetime I can muster, to follow my dream(s) and my daughter who has become a invaluable source of inspiration and hope in my life.
I appreciate your interest in me and hope you enjoy my little corner of the Internet.
